Join us at the Chesterville Fair’s Grain & Hay Competition, where the finest local produce takes center stage in a celebration of agricultural excellence.

Celebrating Rural Tradition

The Grain & Hay Competition highlights the dedication and skill of our local farmers. This event honors the agricultural heritage of our community, offering a platform for growers to showcase their best produce and share their passion for farming with visitors from near and far.

GRAIN & HAY COMPETITION

All exhibitors must be members of the Chesterville and District Agricultural Society.

Entries must be at the fair grounds, on display and ready for judging by 12 noon, Friday, August 22nd, 2025, and must remain on display until 4pm Sunday August 24th, 2025.

All exhibits will be shown in a special display. Inquire from the Secretary as to the location of the exhibit.

All general rules and regulations of the Chesterville and District Agricultural Society will apply to this show.

The following point system will be used for determining Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Agricultural Exhibitor:

1st – 10 pts.; 2nd – 9 pts.; 3rd – 8 pts.; 4th – 7 pts.;
5th – 6 pts.; 6th – 5 pts.

GRAIN

A grain exhibit will consist of 10lbs of seed from the 2025 crop. All grain and corn must be from the 2025 crop, except for high moisture corn and soybean. Bags for sec. 1—4 will be available at the display area. Grain will be exhibited in the following six categories:

Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $7, 3rd: $5, 4th: $3

10 lbs Soybeans (2024)

2.

10 lbs high moisture corn (2024)

3.

Barley (2-row or 6-row) (2025)

4.

Spring or fall wheat (2025)

5.

8 ears of corn (2025)

6.

Sheaf of 10 stocks of silage corn (2025)

7.

Sheaf of 10 stocks of Grain corn (2025)

8.

Sheaf of 10 Soybean Stalks

HAY

The hay exhibit will consist of two 4-inch slices of hay from a bale. One slice will be used for judging; the other will be placed in a plastic bag for the exhibit. Bags will be available at the display area. Hay must be from bales cured in the field or commercially barn-dried. Hay will be exhibited in the following six categories:

Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $7, 3rd: $5, 4th: $3

Baled hay, 75% grass (1st cut)

3.

Baled hay, 75% legume (2nd cut)

4.

Baled hay, 75% grass (2nd cut)
