Grain & Hay Competition

GRAIN & HAY COMPETITION

All exhibitors must be members of the Chesterville and District Agricultural Society.

Entries must be at the fair grounds, on display and ready for judging by 12 noon, Friday, August 25th, 2023, and must remain on display until 4pm Sunday August 27th, 2023.

All exhibits will be shown in a special display. Inquire from the Secretary as to the location of the exhibit.

All general rules and regulations of the Chesterville and District Agricultural Society will apply to this show.

Where there is no competition, the point system will be used for determining Grand and Reserve Grand Champion:

1st – 10 pts.; 2nd – 9 pts.; 3rd – 8 pts.; 4th – 7 pts.;
5th – 6 pts.; 6th – 5 pts.

GRAIN

A grain exhibit will consist of 10lbs of seed from the 2022 crop. All grain and corn must be from the 2022 crop, except for high moisture corn and soybean. Bags for sec. 1—4 will be available at the display area. Grain will be exhibited in the following six categories:

Spring or fall wheat (2023) Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $7, 3rd: $5, 4th: $3

5.

8 ears of corn (2023) Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $7, 3rd: $5, 4th: $3

6.

Sheaf of 10 stocks of silage corn (2023) Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $7, 3rd: $5, 4th: $3

7.

Sheaf of 10 stocks of Grain corn (2023) Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $7, 3rd: $5, 4th: $3

8.

Sheaf of 10 Soybean Stalks Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $7, 3rd: $5, others: $3

HAY

The exhibit will consist of two 4-inch slices of hay from a bale. One slice will be used for judging; the other will be placed in a plastic bag for the exhibit. Bags will be availa-ble at the display area. Hay must be from bales cured in the field or commercially barn-dried. Hay will be exhibited in the following six categories:
