Grain & Hay Competition

All exhibitors must be members of the Chesterville and District Agricultural Society.
Entries must be at the fair grounds, on display and ready for judging by 12 noon, Friday, August
25th, 2023, and must remain on display until 4pm Sunday August 27th, 2023.
All exhibits will be shown in a special display. Inquire from the Secretary as to the location of the exhibit.
All general rules and regulations of the Chesterville and District Agricultural Society will apply to this show.
Where there is no competition, the point system will be used for determining Grand and Reserve Grand Champion:
1st – 10 pts.; 2nd – 9 pts.; 3rd – 8 pts.; 4th – 7 pts.;
5th – 6 pts.; 6th – 5 pts.
Grain
A grain exhibit will consist of 10lbs of seed from the 2023 crop. All grain and corn must be from the 2023 crop, except for high moisture corn and soybean. Bags for sec. 1—4 will be available at the display area.
Grain will be exhibited in the following six categories:
Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $7, 3rd: $5, 4th: $3
Sections:
1. 10 lbs Soybeans (2022)
2. 10 lbs high moisture corn (2022)
3. Barley (2-row or 6-row) (2023)
4. Spring or fall wheat (2023)
5. 8 ears of corn (2023)
6. Sheaf of 10 stocks of silage corn (2023)
Variety of exhibits is NOT to be named, UNLESS pedigree seed is used. If such pedigree seed is displayed, it should be tagged and sealed by Agriculture Canada.
Hay
The exhibit will consist of two 4-inch slices of hay from a bale. One slice will be used for judging; the other will be placed in a plastic bag for the exhibit. Bags will be available at the display area. Hay must be from bales cured in the field or commercially barn-dried.
Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $7, 3rd: $5, 4th: $3
