Class 12: Youth Crafts and OAAS Poster Competitions

ENTRY RULES FOR ALL YOUTH CLASSES
- Open to both girls and boys.
- One exhibit per section per exhibitor.
- Please fill in entry tags very carefully.
- No entry fee required if entering ONLY Youth – Crafts, and/or Baking, and/or Flowers, and/or Photography, and/or Specials.
- Entries will be disqualified if age is not visible on entry tag.
- Please put CLASS number and AGE on entry tag
Goody bag for each entrant generously donated by the Monast Family.
Senior Youth
Ages: 12 to 16 years old
Section
- Two snapshots of an old barn which can include outer buildings from 2 different angles, mounted on a sheet of construction paper
- Collage of your choice on 1/4 sheet of Bristol board
- Any craft from a kit
- Any article made from material i.e. Clothing, knitting etc.
- Christmas door wreath
- Decorate a flower pot
- Free hand drawing using coloured pencils
- Make something new from something old
- A small table centerpiece using real or artificial flowers or both together
- Basket of fruits and vegetables – displayed (does not have to be grown by exhibitor)
Junior Youth
Ages: 9 to 11 years old
Section
- Large colourful flower – handmade from any material
- Bookmark, any medium
- Something new from something old
- Something made from Lego
- Any craft from a kit
- Poster advertising the Chesterville Fair on ½ sheet of Bristol board
- Birthday gift box decorated
- Collage of your choice on 1/4 sheet of Bristol board. All background should be completely covered.
- Decorated fly swatter
- Make something from popsicle sticks
- Make a table arrangement with real or artificial flowers
- Make a birthday card for Mom
Ages: 6 to 8 years old
Section
- Make a necklace from any material
- Collage on construction paper, any theme. All background should be completely covered.
- An article made from Lego
- Decorated bookmark
- Any craft from a kit
- Make an after school snack for you
- Draw and colour a bug i.e. Beetle
- Make something new from something old
- Cereal art on a sheet of construction paper
- Decorated pet rock
- Animal made from vegetables
- Decorate a wooden spoon
Ages: 3 to 5 years old
Section
- Make something from play doh and display on a paper plate
- Necklace made with cereal and candy
- Something made from Lego
- Collage of your choice, on one sheet of construction paper. All background should be completely covered.
- Make an animal out of vegetables
- Your favourite after school snack
- Decorated bookmark
- Make a marshmallow sculpture
- Decorated fly swatter
- Colour a picture from a colouring book. Neatness will be judged
Youth Specials
Any craft item not listed in sections 1 to 22 can be entered and judged.
Ages: 9 to 16 years old
Section
- Knitting
- Sewing
- Quilting
- Or any other craft you like, not listed in any other youth section
OAAS Poster Competitions
Poster Competitions—’Original Handmade Design’
- “Promoting Your Fair” – Name and date of fair must be clearly shown on poster.
- Must be hand drawn.
- Poster size: Minimum –approximately 22 cm X 28 cm, without border
Maximum –approximately 28 cm X 44 cm, without border
- Each entry must be centred on a CARDSTOCK or BRISTOL BOARD exposing approximately a 5.5 cm border on all four sides.
- Name of fair, district #, contact person, owner of poster, complete mailing address must be clearly labeled on the back of each entry.
- The winning poster from each class at each fair will be eligible to enter the district competition. District winners are eligible to enter at the provincial competition
- Junior Poster Competition – Youth up to and including Grade 4
